Composure Composure is a quality which allows one to seek neutrality amidst the urge to jump blindly to one side or another. It is what makes the difference between a decision made with emotion and one made with wisdom. Without composure, there is only the pretense of it. While this pretense may instill confidence in those that choose to follow us (or even join us in conflict or adversity) it’s like a fog waiting to be lifted as the warmth of light or the heat of battle approaches it. True composure withstands both the light and the heat. It instills a fear of the unknown in a potential enemy who cannot understand the reason behind it, especially when they thought they had created fear, confusion and uncertainty. Being a model of composure enables those around you to lean on you with confidence. When you have it, those that try to intimidate you will never know if they have. To those that wish you harm, true composure is the image of the lion with a full belly, lying in the cool shade. You’ll also find quotes like this one: When the Master sets his table,

For centuries, warriors have championed causes that others step away from, out of both convenience and/or cowardice. To champion a cause is admirable, but to champion an individual is both admirable and noble, especially if that individual is weaker than those who wish to cause that individual harm. In fact, the greater the odds and the more overwhelming the opposition against the individual in need of a champion, the more noble and courageous the warrior who champions that individual or individuals needs to be. To the true warrior, those in need of a champion are worthy of the warrior's support - even when the need to take a stand comes at a time when the warrior himself is weakened by wounds of past battles or by burdens which are the warrior's alone and cannot be shared. True warriors come forth to champion those in need, even when every logical instinct tells him or her to "let this one pass" or wait until the strength is returned to both the warrior's limbs and heart. For the warrior's heart, even when wounded, must remain pure, to whatever extent a mortal heart can be pure and the blood of a warrior's heart remains invaluable, whether pumping through that heart or spilling out onto the field of battle. For the true warrior can only be beaten in battle, but can never be diminished, as long as he or she never releases him or herself from the ideals of being a TRUE warrior, a TRUE champion and whether in victory or defeat, a TRUE hero. Read more about being a Champion here: "It is those weaker than ourselves that give us the opportunity to become true champions. For in the end, immortality lies within the shadow we leave behind." Phil Messina Legacy, Creativity, DarknessYour legacy is the imprint that stays in this world long after you’ve left it. It is the image of what you were and what you stood for. It is the voice that others may hear when deciding on a course of action. It is both the lessons learned and the lessons taught. Legacy is about all the actions you took, and didn't take. It's about the things you did, and said, and the things you didn't do or say. Legacy is not just about what you did right. It's also about all the things that you did wrong and how (or whether) you faced up to those things. Did you hold yourself accountable for them? If so, how did you adjust to them and use those missteps as learning experience? When you create good things from bad, it has a ripple effect on everyone touched by the life you lived, directly or indirectly. When our life has meaning, it allows us to cut a path into wilderness which others will widen and lengthen, perhaps never knowing who first wielded the machete that cut through the branches and thorns that turned others away. That path, and where it leads, and how it’s used long after we are gone will always remain our legacy. A true warrior creates a life that becomes a legacy for others who wish to follow a warrior’s path. Creativity Creativity is what lies between what is and what can be. It is the ability to see not just the spaces between what already exists, but also what should exist to fit between those spaces. To be truly creative one must be able to take the sum of what is predictable and bring it to an unpredictable end. It is being able to reach one’s goals without taking the normal routes which others have taken to reach those goals. Common sense can at times be a hindrance to creativity, simply because common sense tends to lead to predictable actions. Once an enemy or rival expects you use common sense, they have the tools they need to counter your actions or get out ahead of your intended path and wait in ambush to catch you by surprise or to undermine your efforts. A true warrior learns not just how to utilize common sense, but also to defy common sense periodically, so that an enemy or rival will only see randomness where there is in fact a predetermined purpose about to be achieved - before anyone using mere common sense can predict it. A true warrior exercises confidence, courage and creativity, and is destined to be victorious both in battle and in life. Darkness The yin-yang is black and white with a little black in the white and a little white in the black because whether you are fighting for good or evil - each of us has a little of the other in us. Said in other words: you cannot be good without having at least a little darkness inside of you. In fact, the more you fight for good, the more personal shadows you will have to overcome. Fighting for good can be an external battle by physically challenging the wrongs that happen in life, or an internal one by working hard to be a become a better person. Either way, we are going to make mistakes along the way and it is important to realize that if we choose to struggle, we will always grow. No one has ever achieved the level of perfection. There is always a constant battle to strive to be the person who you desire to be. Some days the battles are harder than others and you slip up, and think that's not who I want to be. It's the ability to acknowledge your darkness and to accept that everyone has darkness and that you choose to fight your darkness for the greater good is what is makes us warriors. Good people battle both the darkness that lurks inside of them and the darkness that they encounter on the outside. We all have a darkness. Anyone who says different hasn't had the courage to look theirs in the eye and say to it “I know you are there, and I may slip, but I'm a warrior because I am persistent and will continue to fight you everyday.” INSPIRE A FRIEND!!!You may freely forward this information, on condition that you send the text as an integral whole along with complete information about author, date, copyright and source.
